The Pretoria Bach Choir is a highly regarded amateur mixed adult choir.
Have you ever dreamt of lending your voice to some of Mozart’s most stirring masterworks — the radiant Krönungsmesse (Coronation Mass) and the timeless Requiem? These beloved pieces will come alive on Sunday, 17 May 2026, when the Pretoria Bach Choir takes to the stage of the Musaion Theatre at the University of Pretoria, joined by a full ensemble and organ, under the inspired direction of Edwin Mitas.
To enrich our sound and deepen the musical experience, we are opening our doors to seasoned singers who would like to be part of this unforgettable performance.
We will hold around 20 rehearsals ahead of the concert. Our 2026 season begins on Monday, 12 January 2026, from 19:00 to 21:30 in the school hall of Pretoria Oos Laerskool, 209 Roper Street, Brooklyn. Rehearsals continue every Monday at the same time until 11 May 2026. New singers wishing to join us will need to complete an audition before 2 February 2026. The cost to join for this concert only, will be R850.00 payable after passing the audition. If you formally join the choir, the membership fee is R1600.00 for the year.
By stepping into this project, you become part of a respected amateur adult choir with a diverse voice palette, performing two of the most celebrated choral works ever written — and sharing the stage with a full ensemble and accomplished soloists.
